Mark K Morrison is collaborating with The Metropolitan Museum of Art to herald the coming of spring with an exhibition, Public Parks, Private Gardens: Paris to Provence, which will be on view from March 6 through July 29, 2018.
New garden beds, lawn and pavers have been installed completing the second phase of improvements at this private residence in the Litchfield Hills.
MKM is working with Studios Architecture to transform the terrace and roofs of the top two floors of an office building at 150 5th Avenue into an inviting and functional outdoor area for meetings and relaxation for future tenants. The MKM design incorporates understory trees and hedges for area separation; perennials and grasses to soften parapet conditions and to support pollinators; and a meadow on a roof saddle that surrounds a glass room on the top floor. Plans are now complete and construction will begin shortly.
Mark K Morrison has been invited to present at the CTASLA's Green Roof Structures program to discuss his extensive experience planting and designing green roofs in NYC. He is scheduled to speak at the Connecticut chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects on Thursday, September 28 at the Hartford Club in Hartford, CT. Registration is open at CTASLA.
At Turkey's Bilkent University, construction has begun on the foundation and on MKM's design for the green infrastructure beneath the Quad. The green infrastructure is designed to accommodate all the stormwater from the roofs of the new student residence building as well as stormwater runoff originating from the surrounding existing structures.
Mark has long been a collector of antique gardening tools, particularly those from England and France. His extensive collection was featured by the Journal of Antiques & Collectibles in their May 2017 magazine.
