As Vice- President and Director of Design at Mark K. Morrison Landscape Architecture, P.C., Melissa Ix has over twenty- five years of professional experience and an award-winning design background.  In the course of practicing Landscape Architecture, she has been involved in a wide variety of projects ranging from large-scale municipal parks, streetscapes, urban parks and plazas, athletic and recreational facilities, commercial revitalization efforts, transportation interchanges, trail networks to resorts.  Melissa’s innovative designs are founded on in-depth analysis of the site, respect for economic considerations and keen attention to the clients needs. She understands that the pursuit of dynamic and sustainable design is to understand the ecology of a site in order to maximize its opportunities and minimize its constraints.

Melissa received an Art Commission Award for her design of Crames Square in the Bronx, and since joining MKMLA she has worked diligently to ensure continued design excellence as witness by her design for the award winning Southpoint Park Master Plan.  . Melissa has successfully completed forty-one community-based public park projects for of the Trust for Public Land’s New York City Playground Program which included an 10 week participatory design process with community groups, schools and neighborhood residents . This effort received a 2008 Design Merit Award from NYASLA.
